About me
Oliver O. Mbamara is an accomplished attorney, filmmaker, writer, and poet. With a distinguished legal career, Oliver has served as a State Administrative Judge in the United States for over seventeen years. He has been an active member of the Nigerian Lawyers Association (USA), holding various leadership roles, including Chairman of the Board of Directors.
In addition to his legal career, Oliver has made significant contributions to the arts. He has published several books on poetry and Africa-themed essays and is recognized as one of the pioneering Nollywood filmmakers in the USA. His notable works include the film This America and the TV series Cultures. Oliver is also the President of the Nollywood Producers Guild, USA.
Beyond filmmaking, Oliver is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning online magazine AfricanEvents.com, where he continues to inspire through writing and motivational speaking. He has been honored with numerous awards for his contributions to law, cinema, and literature.
Meet Oliver O. Mbamara
Oliver O. Mbamara started his legal career in Nigeria after he graduated from the University of Lagos with LL.B (Hons). He went on to attend the Nigerian law School and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1990. He practiced as a Barrister & Solicitor in Nigeria for several years before moving to the United States where he was also admitted to practice law after passing the New York State Bar examination. He subsequently became an Admin. Judge for the State of New York and has continued to serve in that position for over 17 years.
Oliver’s love for story-telling grew while he played with peers under the moonlight and as he listened to elders tell and share the legends passed on from the ancestors. As a kid his imagination was always at work and creative about bringing stories to live and as such he found the concept of motion picture to be interesting. As he grew, he became more appreciative of the channel of story telling as a benevolent way of sharing ideas and concepts of life without appearing forceful or imposing.
As the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning online magazine AfricanEvents.com, Oliver O. Mbamara continues to inspire and educate through his writing and motivational speaking. He has presented papers at public forums, including the United Nations, and is working on several projects aimed at preserving African history and culture while advancing the Nollywood industry.
